The opportunity
This is a significant role in the firm’s business development function.  It requires strong influencing skills in order to demonstrate leadership of the partner’s and executive director’s business development activity. The role requires the ability to act as both a sales leader of relationships/opportunities and change agent, to create a market-facing office-wide sales culture. This role has a strong focus on leading and driving market facing activity rather than an internal or administrative focus.
 
Your key responsibilities
You will be developing and sustaining relationships with key NSW Government and public sector stakeholders. You will manage and drive the growth of a given portfolio of NSW Government clients through the identification of needs and representation of appropriate EY service offerings. You will work closely with the partner/executive group in leading the client facing component of major pursuits and the development of a winning strategy. You will also work with the Government Lead Partner and Government BD leader to execute the firm’s go-to-market sales strategy and work with the government ‘focus’ account teams in implementing global best practice account management. You will manage/drive all significant NSW government revenue campaigns. 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience leading pursuit and close of business with the NSW or other state and territory or Federal government, and an understanding of the government operating environment, procurement and approvals processes
  • Experience working in a large matrix organisation or partnership environment
  • Develop and assist in determining a consistent approach to identifying key markets and clients.
  • Identify and evaluate new ideas, technologies or external products to expand EY’s capabilities (e.g., competitive analysis).
  • Develop a team culture in which timely, objective feedback is provided to team members about strengths and development needs;
  • Adapt to varied cultural styles and non-verbal cues by applying interpersonal awareness to read and appreciate others’ differences, concerns and motivations.
  • Consistently maintain team members’ focus on identified team or business unit goals.
  • Assist in determining the organization’s risk management and quality policies and/or methodologies.
  • Develop lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with key EY and client stakeholders.
To qualify for the role you must have
  • Experience in a strategic sales environment with a proven track record.
  • Track record in selling complex solutions into major government agencies.
  • Good understanding of current major State government policies and programs
  • Identify and assemble teams that reflect diverse skills and strengths from across the organization.
