About CyRise

CyRise is Australia’s only venture accelerator that focuses on early stage cyber security startups. Based in Melbourne, CyRise offers cyber security founders a 6 month mentor driven programme, $50,000 in investment, expeditions to Israel or the US, and early access to foundational customers and investors.

CyRise is a partnership between Deakin University and Dimension Data. We support the long-term growth of the Australian cyber security ecosystem by investing in and supporting cyber security founders.

 

The role

You should have a talent for storytelling to help build our brand, grow our community, and raise industry awareness of our work.

We want to you to establish CyRise as the trusted, go-to place for cyber security entrepreneurship in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. With one startup cohort graduated and a good backstory to tell, we are keen to find the right person to amplify our message.

We value quality over quantity. This role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and good project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy : Develop and execute a MarComms strategy for CyRise
  • PR and Brand — CyRise is seen as a trusted, go-to source with your influence.
    • Build brand credibility with potential founders, corporates, the wider startup community as well as relevant industry and government bodies
    • Seek events and speaker opportunities for team
  • Social media : Generate, seed and lead external content to grow the community around CyRise
    • Own the website, email communications, LinkedIn, Twitter, Medium and Facebook feeds (and others)
    • Produce powerful stories and blog posts around CyRise, its startup experience, founder profiles, and promote capabilities of CyRise startups
    • Research and craft superb educational content including important metrics
    • Identify new channels to attract a wider and diverse community which reflects CyRise desire to support a diverse range of cyber security startups
  • Relationship management : Collaborate with
    • Freelancer designers, external influencers and industry experts
    • CyRise founders and alumni
    • Comms teams at corporate partners / industry events / industry bodies

 

Requirements

You will be our whole marketing team. We will be relying on you to craft what people think about CyRise.

  • Confirmed ability to execute on a smart yet visionary marketing plan
  • Experience in crafting high quality, engaging content for digital channels
  • Past demonstrable experience building audiences online or offline
  • Ability to work independently within a small team with a startup mindset
  • Be comfortable in switching between the dual strategic and operational aspects of this role
  • Can-do attitude
  • First-class player

An interest in startups and / or cyber security would be desirable.

 

How we’d like to work with you

We are offering this contract role for 2 days per week on an ongoing basis.

We are flexible on hours. We’d love you to be based in Melbourne so you could join us in our CBD co-working space but it’s not essential — happy to consider a remote role.

You will be a key member of a small team, which is dedicated in delivering a high-quality experience for our accelerator startups and the wider cyber security startup community.
