HOST International is a growing not-for-profit organisation aimed at providing direct relief and strategic support services to improve the livelihoods of refugees, asylum seekers and other displaced people throughout the world.

Through strengths based and trauma informed approaches we provide education and support services to improve the livelihoods and independence of refugees and asylum seekers whilst assisting host countries to integrate them into the general community. Creating and maintaining humanity, hope and dignity is at the core of our work with displaced people and host countries.

The newly created role of Communications Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the internal and external communication strategies including branding, media relations, social media, PR campaigns and events across the expanding HOST network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead brand and content management including reviewing key messages, providing briefing material, social media content suggestions and ideas, and maintaining message consistency;
  • Respond to media enquiries as appropriate within the parameters of governing contracts and organisational policies;
  • Develop media campaigns and generate media opportunities, maintain media lists and manage media-related issues;
  • Provide advice, briefings and monitoring reports to the CEO;  
  • Develop social media campaigns and foster relationships with key social media influencers;
  • Develop and manage the social media schedule including proofing, strategic messaging and gaining stakeholder approvals;
  • Measure and report on social media and marketing campaigns, as well as website performance, using Google Analytics and other tools; and
  • Manage content development for internal and external use across the organisation including scripts, annual reports, speeches, social media posts, media releases, internal communication updates, blogs, videos, Q&As, PowerPoint presentations to maintain consistency.

Essential Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will be a tertiary qualified, experienced communications practitioner with proven ability to create and execute strategies and plans. You'll be experienced in writing and developing influential and productive working relationships with key stakeholders in complex and challenging environments.  You will bring a wealth of knowledge in developing successful mainstream media and social media campaigns, as well as experience using web publishing applications and CMS. A collaborative leadership approach, creativity, determination and a “can do” attitude are essentials in this fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The role is part time, up to three days per week with flexibility around days and hours. Parramatta NSW location, however for the right candidate we may consider a remote location with regular travel to the Parramatta NSW office.
