About the company:
My client, a Government Agency, is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Officer to support the development and implementation of projects relating to community facilities across Sydney.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including government at the local, state and federal levels, industry and community.
Key responsible:
- Work closely with the Public Affairs and Engagement team, to engage with key stakeholders including government and industry stakeholders, elected officials and officers, and community groups, to build a base of third party support and mitigate the risk of misinformation impacting major projects.
- Work in partnership with external bodies to develop effective engagement strategies, ensure the effective resourcing and delivery of project communications
- You will review communications procedures to improve a more proactive, planned, coordinated approach to communications
- Contribute to the development of the Industry Engagement Strategy.
- Be responsible for the preparation of communications collateral including media releases, briefing notes, newsletters, correspondence, consultation documents, website content
- Work collaboratively with staff from other NSW Government agencies in relation to community, industry and government stakeholder matters.
Ideal candidate
- Tertiary qualified, you possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in communication and engagement activities, media or public relations gained from government or large services environment
- Working at a strategic level you will provide advice, guidance and counsel to other communications staff and project managers.
- Has developed strategies for managing and negotiating positive outcomes where complex stakeholder, particularly community, engagement matters exist.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to translate complex and technical information into accessible public information
- Sound judgement with proven ability to build rapport and gain acceptance at all levels within an organisation and with external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of communication methodologies and disciplines, communication channels and mechanisms
