About the role

In this role you will develop and deliver communications and stakeholder engagement plans on portfolio specific projects to protect and promote reputation, identify issues and deliver advice and early planning for the allocated portfolio. This part time (2 days per week) role sits in a fantastic team with a hard-working atmosphere and is a perfect fit for someone who enjoys to work independently. This opportunity is a contract role for 1 year.

Help us innovate to meet the challenges of our growing cities by:

  • Promoting and protecting the reputation of the brand Sydney Water by developing, delivering and implementing communication and engagement strategies.
  • Providing input into reports including community engagement, issues status and evaluate and report on internal communication deliverables and channels.
  • Coaching and developing contractors on managing and building effective community and stakeholder relations through formal and on the job training. Ensure they follow approach policies and guidelines.
  • Preparing written material including letters, newsletters, website, Sydney Water Talk updates, and presentations.
  • Planning and preparing content for all corporate communication channels. Prioritising content aligned to corporate objectives and principles of staff engagement. These channels include eNews, iConnect, SharePoint manager eNews, lift and computer wall paper messages.


About you

  • Degree qualifications in a communications, marketing, community relations or related discipline or relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in communications or community relations, in a complex environment experiencing change.
  • A strong team player with proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals.
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated ability to develop trusted relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills including any experience in developing and implementing communications or engagement strategies and/or collateral e.g. prepare scripts, articles, channel and publication content and edit complex technical information for multiple audiences.
  • Ability to critically analyse data and information, interpret and present complex material to diverse audiences.
  • Continually looking for creative ways to improve the cut-through of messages and engagement methods.
