BHP's Mt Arthur Coal is the largest individual coal production site in the Hunter Valley region of NSW. Located less than 5 kilometres from Muswellbrook, we produce high quality, clean energy coal for international and domestic customers. Mt Arthur Coal can offer experience and great career development opportunities.
About the role
We are seeking a Community Specialist for our BHP Corporate Affairs Team to support the Hunter Valley region, based in Muswellbrook. This role is being Reporting to the Community Manager, this role will support the business though the engagement of the key relationships with our communities, risk identification and support of our strategic investment and donations program. This role is being offered on a six (6) month fixed term basis.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Establishing and maintaining our positive relations with key community stakeholders and organisations
• Identification and management of emerging community and reputational risks and issues
• Supporting site based teams' engagement with our communities
• Supporting community investments including strategic partnerships, donations and sponsorships
• Coordinating opportunities for interactions between our operations and communities
• Representative BHP across key local and regional organisations and forums
• Provide actionable intelligence inputs to the broader Corporate Affairs team from our local Hunter Valley region.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have an understanding of industry and experience in the practical application of sustainable business practices to community engagement and investment, preferably in the Resources sector or similar heavy industry setting.
You will also have a demonstrated ability to plan strategically and to manage the successful delivery of projects of a capital nature. Communication as a peer with Senior Managers and Community Leaders e.g. BHP Mine Site General Managers, local Government Leaders and Senior Government Officials, will be within your experience portfolio.
