Do you have strong event management skills and would enjoy the challenge of researching, planning and coordinating a wide range of events and programs? Then this could be your next role!

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, highly organised, experienced person to join our Library Community Programs team.

You will be responsible for:

  • The strategic direction of Library events and programs which are reflective of the needs of the Woollahra community
  • Coordinating the delivery of annual Woollahra Libraries signature events including but not limited to Poets Picnic and the Woollahra Digital Literary Award
  • Proactively approaching community engagement through use of the IAP2 public participation spectrum using a range of social media platforms 
  • Manage a team in the delivery and promotion of events and programs for adult, youth and children, including venue hire

You will be in touch with the “literary scene” and keep abreast of current awareness topics for the planning of events.

This is a busy and demanding role and a flexible approach to working hours will be required depending on event and roster commitments.

Although library experience is desirable, it is not essential.

Essential Criteria:

  • Completed or studying towards a qualification in Events Management, Library and Information Sciences or other relevant degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing events and programs for the community within a cultural institution.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders including strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in leading a small team with experience in implementing change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing and social media.
  • Strong commitment to customer focused service with an easy ability to work as part of a larger team.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Well-developed computer proficiency across a range of applications; knowledge and skills in current technology including social media platforms and the ability to assist customers and staff in the use of this technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake the physical requirements of the position as outlined in Section D of the position description.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EEO and WH&S
  • Current C Drivers Licence
  • Ability to work flexible hours

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in a library environment
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Willingness to obtain a Responsible Service of Alcohol competency
  • Current Working with Children check
  • Willingness to obtain a First Aid Certificate
