Reporting the Group Manager – Products this new position forms part of the Coates Leadership Team and requires implementation of category management disciplines and planning to ensure Coates Hire always has the best offer available whilst ensuring a sustainable return.

 

Position Summary

 

Working across the business, the Category Manager – Projects will be assigned to analyse targeted portions of our business. It may not be a whole category but specific segments required to support the business at the time. Your efforts will provide stakeholders with commercial guidance, customer and market insight as you find yourself potentially analysing spend data, market trends, reviewing products, evaluating repairs and maintenance spend or review pricing for products or services.

 

Key duties & responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare strategic category plans for annual and long range periods that support business goals, financial objectives and above market average growth
  • Create a competitive advantage through insight, category reviews and proposals
  • Manage the product lines and range lifecycles ensuring commercial viability
  • Through  commercial expertise, supply value and competitive advantage to the business
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant markets, services and products, supplier innovations, international trends, competitor activities and industry bodies
  • With key stakeholders develop “go to market” plans when introducing new products
  • Recommend pricing for new products and existing products that require repositioning

 

Skills & Expertise

Bring your innovative mindset and experience as a Category Manager / Product Manager from your previous experience.  You will need to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders, working across organisational structures with a confident, collaborative, results oriented approach.

Essential will be commercial negotiation skills, with evidence of having applied original thinking, persuasive negotiation skills and strategic planning. With your tertiary degree in a business discipline, excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can expect a competitive salary in a growing, stable and robust organisation.
