A vacancy currently exists for the part time position of a Stakeholder Engagement Officer based in Dandenong South, Victoria. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, this position is responsible for engaging with SUEZ’s stakeholders in and around our resource recovery infrastructure facilities in Victoria.

At SUEZ, we are actively engaged in the communities in which we live, work and deliver our services and operate our facilities. In your role, you will help us deliver on our commitment of being a good neighbour and managing our operations consistent with community expectations.

This is a vital role within and you will be responsible for all stakeholder engagement activities, including our Community Reference Groups for two vital pieces of waste management infrastructure in the South. As a key player in the group, you will also help us increase awareness of sustainable waste management practices through community tours of our facilities and waste management education.

This role also manages local community sponsorships and partnerships and works closely with our national Communications & Corporate Affairs team to support the SUEZ Community Grants program.

Working closely with our Communications & Public Affairs Manager, you will work closely with our national team to develop community engagement strategies for new development projects, support our liaison with State Governments and regulators and take a lead role on engagement with local councils. You will also support the local and national teams with internal communications and employee engagement activities.

You will have a proven ability to develop and maintain relationships and be motivated to work autonomously on projects.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Directly liaise with priority stakeholders and community groups and represent the company at various community based forums as required.
  • Work closely with local management and national office to coordinate, develop and deliver stakeholder engagement projects
  • Prepare internal and external communications and manage community events
  • Deliver all environment and stakeholder reporting requirements to schedule
  • Support facility managers in understanding and valuing stakeholder engagement to improve business outcomes
  • Provide regular updates on activities to management
  • Participate in and manage community reference group meetings
  • Contribute to development projects and strategic planning sessions

To assist you in delivering on these initiatives having strong written and oral communication skills is essential along with outstanding time management abilities. As this position supports all of VIC, visiting our sites, is key and thus having a valid Victorian licence essential.
