An exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional with a nose for news to join the City of Kingston's Community Relations Team
The role:
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Stakeholder and Strategic Communications, you will be responsible for Council’s day-to-day media management including responding to media queries and developing pitches for positive news stories.
In this diverse and busy role, you’ll work with departments across the organisation to assist them to market and communicate Council’s services and programs to the Kingston community.
You’ll also play a key role creating content for Council’s social media channels and implementing advocacy campaigns that speak up on behalf of our community.
About you:
We’re looking for someone with excellent written and presentation skills, plus a proven track record in communications managing media relations.
You thrive on a fast-paced schedule and are confident juggling multiple projects at once.
A team player, you are a strong influencer with the ability to maintain excellent working relationships and provide media advice to the Corporate Leadership Group, CEO, Councillors and the Mayor.
With the above - and along with your industry experience and completion of a recognised tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related area - this could be the job for you!
Experience or an understanding of the local government sector would also be highly considered.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a salary between $83,156 - $90,729 annum plus super.
