The Portfolio Leader provides leadership, team development, and strategic direction to a team of Product Managers, Associate Product Managers and Administrators with responsibility for ensuring effective representation of the Thermo Fisher Scientific value proposition to drive profitable growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute a Supplier Management program focused to attraction, retention and engagement of new and existing suppliers in line with a growth strategy.
  • Work with senior leadership and the Product Management teams to develop and implement tactical actions for growth and performance.
  • Review and revise the business plans of the Product Teams and align to other Portfolio Leaders to ensure relevance and maximise success as part of the holistic Thermo Fisher Scientific offering.
  • Close liaison with the sales, marketing and technical service teams to ensure Product Management outputs are timely, cost effective and impactful.
  • Engage with key customers and the market to remain current in terms of trends, opportunities and competition in order to lead business strategy.
  • Ensure pricing disciplines are met and profitable growth objectives achieved.
  • Manage talent effectively within the Product Management team to provide career development aligned to defined performance criteria.
  • Work with HR and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure staff are correctly aligned to roles.
  • Manage underperformance to drive continued improvements in team outputs.
  • Reward and recognise achievement and reduce attrition of key staff to build stability.
  • Ensure business requirements are met and resourced appropriately within the Product Management and Support teams by balancing workload and driving productivity and efficiency.
  • Engage with HR and Talent Management to effectively recruit, retain, recognise and develop staff and to ensure effective management of underperformance.
  • Ensure usage and adoption of the CRM platform with a particular focus on pipeline management and customer communications.
  • Utilise the Performance Management and Development process to ensure the team is aligned to Portfolio objectives and personal development goals.
  • Proactively engage with Supplier Partners or Thermo Fisher Scientific business units as required to provide necessary reporting and forecasting disciplines with a high degree of accuracy +/- 5% each month.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of monthly business reports, quarterly business reviews and ad hoc data as required or requested, such as market or competitive intelligence.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Formal qualifications are mandatory, preferably in the business field or scientific field. ​
  • Track record in driving business growth through the implementation of sales strategy and execution of tactical actions to achieve required sales objectives.
  • Team management experience, with track record in building, developing and coaching a high performing team to deliver against objectives.
  • Track record of operating successfully within an environment focused on high performance and high levels of intensity.
  • Business insight of industry sector, its key trends and potential challenges.
  • Experience in working in a global and matrix organisation with a decentralized model.
  • Experience acquired across several companies.
