The role:

Due to our continued growth, we currently have a newly created opportunity for a Communications Officer to join the Hostplus team. Reporting to our Corporate Affairs Lead, you will provide support developing and delivering internal and external communications that are engaging, timely and aligned with fund priorities.   

This is a hands-on opportunity for a communications professional to partner with a wide range of stakeholders across Australia's best performing Balanced fund, including senior leader, various internal departments, media, industry associations and community groups.

As an experienced communications professional, you have rigorous attention to detail and a proven ability to effectively work under pressure, manage competing priorities, tight timeframes and diverse relationships. You also have the ability to simplify complex, technical information into straightforward messaging aligned to Hostplus' business strategy.

Your key responsibilities:

• Support Hostplus' internal communications and employee engagement tactics
• Play an active communications role in fund and industry-led community groups
• Track positive PR opportunities within the hospitality, tourism, recreation and sport industries
• Provide press office support monitoring media, overseeing reportage and maintaining databases
• Work with Marketing to develop content and strategic messaging for Hostplus' social media

To be successful in this role, you have demonstrated experience working in an in-house or agency-based corporate affairs, public policy or government relations role. You have outstanding written and verbal communications skills and thrive when working under pressure in a highly regulated and dynamic environment.

You are also comfortable working autonomously and have excellent organisational and planning skills. You are innately curious about current affairs and superannuation, as well as have sound knowledge of the media landscape including media relations procedures, methods and technologies used by media.

You are preferably tertiary qualified in Journalism, Public Relations and/or Communications. Experience in the financial services industry is a bonus, but not required.
