Who we are and what we do
Dairy Australia is the national services body for the dairy industry. Our role is to help farmers adapt to a changing operating environment, & achieve a profitable, sustainable dairy industry. We act as the 'investment arm' of the industry, investing in projects that can't be done efficiently by individual farmers or companies.
About the position
Reporting to the Public Relations Manager the core objective of this position is to drive the development, implementation and management of Dairy Australia's media relations strategy across corporate, consumer, influencer, and communities. And provide media relations support to the broader industry as required.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Development and implementation of Dairy Australia's media strategy both nationally and through regional locations.
- Ensure strategy is aligned with program needs, PR and communications strategy and upholds the brand and reputation of the organisation and industry.
- Manage proactive and reactive media relations activity.
- Act as the primary contact for all media enquiries
- Develop media key messages, content and releases.
- Brief key spokespeople in-line with industry position.
- Build strong relationships with key media and industry stakeholders.
- Develop social media content for corporate / program needs.
- Respond to corporate / issues related social media activity.
- Report on effectiveness of all media activity.
Our ideal candidate will have
- A minimum of 5 years' communications and media relations experience
- Tertiary qualifications in journalism or communications
- Media trained professional
- Experience as a key media contact in a corporate environment
- Proven ability to identify newsworthy stories and deliver media strategy
- Social media content development experience
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to monitor and respond to media and social media enquiries / issues outside of business hours.
