The Senior Communications Officer leads traditional and digital communications, marketing, and customer engagement activities for the Town of Port Hedland to help reach the public relations and community engagement goals set out in the Town’s strategic vision.
The position will be based in Port Hedland, a town of rich heritage, spectacular landscapes, friendliness, a diverse and embracing community and relaxed lifestyle. As the largest bulk export port in the world, the town is home to global resource leaders and is significant to the national interest.
About you
We are seeking a marketing and communications all-rounder who can develop strategies, manage production and most importantly, is a great writer. Knowledge of the latest trends in social and digital media will be critical as well as the ability to develop content on a range of platforms including video, printed collateral, PowerPoint presentations and media releases. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast paced environment and is proactive in building internal and external relationships to find and share the great work the organisation is doing using media that maximise community engagement.
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
- Degree qualification in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations with extensive relevant experience in a similar position
- C Class Driver’s Licence
- National Police Clearance
