Role based in Midland, WA

12 month initial contracts

This federal government is providing new, national approach to providing support to people with disability and their families and carers. It started its work in 2013 and is currently rolling out in stages across the country.


We are looking for dedicated and motivated people to work to help make a difference in the community and the lives of hundreds and thousands of Australians.



The Assistant Director will be responsible for providing clear and regular communications about in line with the communications strategy to stakeholders in across WA, coordinating the departments participation in events and forums and for ensuring regional management are kept abreast of local issues,challenges and successes.


You will:

  • Have exemplary leadership qualities in connecting with staff, participants, individuals and support providers
  • Be able to work collaboratively with others to deliver on the objectives and for building strong links across the region.
  • Contribute to the links between the corporate and service delivery arms of the region and be accountable for providing clear and regular communication back to National Office.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop regional, community and sector engagement relationships.
  • Oversee mainstream, community and provider's innovation and responsiveness to increase flexibility in service delivery options.
  • Represent the Agency and contribute to national Agency policy outcomes through participation at local forums and negotiations with external agencies.
  • Coordinate regional feedback including developing recommendations for sensitive and complex issues.
  • Manage and develop solutions with stakeholders on complex and sensitive policy issues.
  • Explain policy changes to the participants, individuals, providers and the community.
  • Manage community expectations and ensure engagement with stakeholders from both government and non-government sectors.
  • Develop and coordinate regional site communication/marketing plan and strategy.

To be successful for this role you must possess and be able to demonstrate the following ;

  • Must be an Australia Citizen
  • Experience in a similar communications based role at a senior level
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders
  • Meticulous with detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to display experience with conflict resolution
  • Can work well autonomously and part of the team
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office
  • Experience in handling and managing confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to think out side of the box
