About the role

POSITION SUMMARY
 

The Wedding and Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities to support the effective promotion and delivery of all weddings and assist with private and corporate events at Brisbane Powerhouse.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 

Wedding and Events Management

  • Conduct Site Inspections
  • Prepare event orders and floorplans for each event
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external suppliers including catering, beverage, styling, equipment, theming and other external event companies
  • Assist in the implementation of event related compliance issues including but not limited to liquor licensing, responsible service of alcohol, event security and workplace health and safety
  • Assist in delivery of marketing and related support material to successfully promote weddings and events, including open days
  • Ensure effective execution of events, including providing clients with prompt and accurate information in the lead up to the event
  • Liaise with suppliers in order to manage and deliver event requirements

General
 

  • Work in a collaborative manner with other departments in support of all Brisbane Powerhouse initiatives
  • Uphold best practices, policies and procedures required for the operation of the Events unit
  • Maintain awareness of trends in weddings and event management
  • Ability to work under pressure

SELECTION CRITERIA

SELECTION CRITERIA
 

  • Demonstrated experience in wedding and event management
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative roles with a requirement for attention to detail
  • Knowledge of events and functions industry, specifically wedding industry
  • Analytical & problem solving skills with ability to demonstrate initiative when required
  • Good time management skills and ability to effectively manage competing priorities and commitments
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Well developed written and oral communications skills with the capacity to provide high quality customer service to diverse clients
  • Computer literacy with ability to use word processing packages, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Outcome focused and possess a high level with of commitment with the ability to identify and contribute to value added services
  • Flexibility to work outside business hours and on weekends. Standard hours in this role are Tuesday to Saturday, with the need to work Sundays as required by the business.
