About the role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced marketing communications manager to lead a geographically-spread national marketing team of approximately 20 people (who report to you through a number of team leaders) within the Strategy and Transformation business group.

Based in either our Melbourne CBD or Barton, ACT office, the Marketing Manager will lead Engineers Australia’s Marketing Business Unit and will be responsible for working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to link marketing activities to organisational strategy.

Duties

As Engineers Australia’s Marketing Manager, a high level overview of your duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Strategic and operational plan development and management.
  • Ensure clear linkages between the Marketing team’s strategies and plans with Engineers Australia’s overall organisational strategies and plans.
  • Leading, developing and inspiring a team of marketing professionals.
  • Management of the business unit’s budget including developing the annual operating budget for the Marketing function and ensuring that all marketing-related expenditures are maintained within agreed budget parameters.
  • Develop and implement strategies and business plans which position the Engineers Australia brand in the minds of Members, Non-Members and all other engineering profession stakeholders, and in ways which reinforce the relevance and value of Engineers Australia to stakeholders.
  • Guide your team of marketing professionals to manage all of Engineers Australia’s marketing communication channels and products, including through Engineers Australia’s website, social media platforms, electronic direct mail [EDM] campaigns and via Engineers Australia’s publishing portfolio.
  • Ensuring that the team maintains a ‘business partner model’ approach of service delivery.
  • Working with an external supplier to ensure the timely production of the Create magazine in line with the agreed publishing schedule and within budget.
  • Managing supplier relationships.
  • Development, implementation and/or review of policies and procedures.
  • Complete reporting and analysis requirements as may be required from time to time, including to the Engineers Australia Executive Leadership Team and to the Board.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills & Experience

As the Marketing Manager of Engineers Australia, you will be an experienced and well-regarded people-leader with the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Significant marketing function experience at a senior level, with exposure to all facets of the marketing function as relevant to a professional membership peak body organisation.
  • Proven leadership skills, at a senior management level, to inspire and lead a team of dedicated marketing professionals.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focussed approach;
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively undertake business planning in line with strategic corporate objectives and manage budgets accordingly.
  • Expertise in digital marketing and communications.
  • Experience in advancing organisational objectives through the development and implementation of marketing and brand management strategy.
  • Experience in planning and delivery of marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and manage diverse and competing stakeholder needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with influence and to negotiate persuasively.
  • Knowledge of publishing and content-marketing principles.
  • Possess a Tertiary qualification in marketing or a related discipline.
