Detail information about job Graphic & Digital Designer. Terms and conditions vacancy
We work on a variety of exciting new projects with great local businesses and are passionate about helping them to grow and achieve their goals.
This is a full time role working with a tight knit team and flexible working conditions.
Personal qualities:
- You have a passion for creating beautiful designs – both print and digital – that clearly communicate the required message
- You can take a design brief and transform it into something fresh yet on-brand, and can adapt your design based on client and manager feedback
- You can complete high quality work to deadline, and juggle multiple deadlines and projects at a time
- You know (and can explain to clients) the difference between web hosting, domain registration, and website login details
- You know when to use RGB and when to use CMYK
- You understand image resolution and the requirements for getting a great result in print
- You can manage your time and work autonomously, as well as being part of a tight knit team
Necessary skills:
- 4+ years' experience across both print and digital design
- A qualification in graphic design, visual communication, or similar
- High level Adobe Creative Suite skills – primarily Indesign, Illustrator & Photoshop
- Web design experience – most of our client’s websites are built using WordPress software (wordpress.org not wordpress.com), so the ability to maintain existing websites and create new ones using the WordPress CMS is a must
- Knowledge of CSS and HTML to customise WordPress themes, and experience with using various WordPress plugins to add more functionality to websites
- Prepress knowledge – creating print ready artwork, preflighting, proofing, colour management, etc
- Photography – knowing your way around a DSLR on manual (so choosing the correct lens, shutter speed, aperture and ISO, and flash vs no flash) for a variety of situations including events, staff headshots, interiors and exteriors of buildings, etc and high level photo editing skills
- An eye for good design, typography and creating a balanced page (whether print or digital), plus a proven ability to proofread your work
- Ability to design and create beautiful interactive PDF forms (adding form elements in InDesign and completing the final form in Acrobat)
- An understanding of how to make Powerpoints and Word documents look well-designed, so they can be edited by people who don’t have Creative Suite
- Knowledge of how to backup and update websites, and restore from a backup if something goes wrong
Any of the following would be highly regarded:
- Video shooting and editing (e.g. shooting on a DSLR, using a Rode lavalier microphone, and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro or similar) highly desirable
- Shooting and editing HDR images
- Experience with getting websites online or migrating from one host to another (uploading via FileZilla or similar, setting up and connecting MySQL databases, updating DNS settings to point domains, etc)
- Drone photography
- Experience with the Hubspot CMS (which they refer to as a COS just to be confusing)
- Understanding of current, ever-changing SEO trends and best practice
