ABOUT THE POSITION

Cranbrook School is seeking a Senior Communications & Public Affairs Advisor to join its Marketing, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement team.

An integral part of the School, the role works to identify and maximise communications, media and public affairs opportunities, communicate Cranbrook’s Vision and Mission, strengthen Cranbrook’s brand profile, raise the School’s visibility among key stakeholder audiences and manage the delivery and execution of internal and external communications, media and public affairs activities of Cranbrook School.

The position holder contributes content-wise and strategically, writing and articulating clear, timely and informative messaging to both internal and external constituencies across Cranbrook’s internal and external communications and engagement channels, including but not limited to visual, online, printed, digital, social, published, media and electronic mediums.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree qualification and/or equivalent experience in media, communications and public affairs at a mid to senior level a proven track record in developing and implementing complex communications and media plans whilst working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including at a senior level.
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in communications, public and media relations gained within a large, complex, issues rich environment.
  • Experience in proactively sharing strategic stories with internal and external audiences to enhance corporate reputation.
  • A track record in managing crisis media situations and acting as a corporate spokesperson. 
  • Proven achievement in driving proactive media coverage which supports the various programs and initiatives run by the School, as well as responding to emerging and crisis issues and requests. 
  • Experience in taking a strategic and evidence-based approach to public relations, bringing exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Extensive internal and external communications and writing skills and a proven track record of writing and editing informative and engaging copy across a range of channels, including but not limited to, briefs, speeches, video scripts, long form feature, eDM, social posts, editorial, website, magazine, reports, media releases, publications, print and campaign copy.
  • Outstanding behaviours, ethics and adherence to organisational values, and a can do, team-focused, collaborative and energetic approach to work. 

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Please outline your experience in managing proactive and reactive media relations. Please also provide an example of at least one specific issue, campaign or project you managed, outlining your strategic approach, your role and the outcome.
  2. Please outline your experience in developing and executing an all-encompassing communication strategy for an issue, initiative or project. Describe the project/initiative/issue, explain your role, identify steps in the strategy development, its inclusions and its execution and outcomes.
