About the role
Our client, a government agency, currently seeks an experienced Senior Community Engagement Advisor for a 12 month contract. You will be responsible for the delivering of communications and engagement strategies, activities and materials for a major urban development project.
Reporting into the Communications and Engagement Director, you will be responsible for community and stakeholder engagement, issues management, content management for various communication channels including social media, and the delivery of high quality engagement events and activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Working within a communications team to develop and deliver communication and engagement activities to support the project communication and engagement strategy.
- Developing effective working relationships within the development project, its partners and internal/external stakeholders so that the project is effectively delivered.
- Managing the delivery of quality, well-organised engagement activities and events and supporting materials for various communication purposes and channels including social media and the projects website.
- Proactively identifying opportunities and seek to resolve issues of reputation risk to protect and build the reputation of the project.
- Planning and managing own work plan to meet performance targets.
Experience and Skills
To be successful in this role you must possess:
- Demonstrated experience and capability in conducting community engagement and consultation for infrastructure development projects.
- Experience in IAP2 methodology/processes.
- Experience in handling community enquiries in a sensitive environment.
- Experience in issues identification and management.
- Understanding of reputation and brand management.
- Capability in managing the production of high quality printed and audio visual material.
- Excellent writing skills and experience in writing for a range of media e.g. promotional material, newsletters, media releases, online content and corporate publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, community engagement, stakeholder relations, public relations or a related discipline or suitable work experience.
