Role Overview
The Media Officer supports the media and content manager and team in the delivery of media services in relation to planning, design, construction & operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide media relations services across a number of projects simultaneously
• Provide issues management services, research and strategic advice to the  manager and communications director.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues to support the successful delivery of communications.
• Assist and mentor the media officer in the production of proactive media stories and progressing these through the approval process with senior staff and ministerial staff.
• Drafting media releases and other promotional material, including social media.
• Work as part of a small team to maintain the operation of the Communications Directorate.

Required Experience

• Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline as well as 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrable experience as a journalist or media advisor in a government department or minister’s office. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing a high volume workload within tight deadlines across several stakeholder groups.
