The UTS Marketing and Communications Unit (MCU) takes the lead in developing strategies and relationships to build the UTS brand in order to achieve its desired prominence in the market place.
                           
MCU is currently recruiting a Marketing and Communications Officer that will partner internally with the Institute for Sustainable Futures at UTS.

The Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) at UTS undertakes game-changing sustainability research.  Established for 20 years, ISF works with thought leaders in government, industry and community organisations, in Australia and internationally, to create change towards sustainable futures.  Sustainability research is a key focus area supporting UTS's ambition to be a world-leading university of technology.  Beyond a vibrant new campus in Sydney's creative precinct, at the heart of UTS are exceptional people.

You will help plan and implement marketing and communication activities within a limited budget to maximise the impact of our sustainability research and grow the Institute's reputation for future business development and partnerships.

You will manage major broadcast communication channels and generate stories and other engaging content that translates complex sustainability research for priority audiences.
 
You will provide advice and strategic planning, support the mapping and surveys of the Institute's audiences, as well as helping to develop customer journeys and personas, and regularly measure external engagement and advocacy.

You will bring drive, creativity, a collaborative mindset, a passion for emerging digital trends, and a desire to be part of a supportive, high-performing research institute creating meaningful change.

Main duties/responsibilities:

•Assist the Institute for Sustainable Futures to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate marketing and communication strategies.
•Develop and produce internal and external Institute communications, across a variety of channels, online and offline platforms and materials.
•Promote the Institute's key research events, achievements and activities.
•Provide strategic advice to internal clients and partners on appropriate communication strategies including positioning, target audiences and marketing mix elements.

Main skills/experience required:

•Experience with effective external communication strategies and approaches, including digital, social and traditional platforms, tools and channels.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills in a variety of formats and technologies, from social media to websites and traditional article writing.
•Professional liaison, negotiation and diplomacy skills - ability to liaise with senior academic and professional staff.
•Familiarity with current sustainability issues (desirable).

Remuneration

Base Salary Range: $79,217 to $85,772 pa (HEW 6)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This position is full time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 24 months.
