About the business

The Dax Centre engages with students, teachers, artists and the general community, to provide education on mental illness and trauma, promote mental health and reduce stigma towards mental illness.  We do this through educational programs and art exhibitions that feature the artwork of people with a lived experience of mental illness or psychological trauma.

The Dax Centre is part of SANE Australia.

About the role

The Communications Manager has overall responsibility for the management of multi-channel communications, developing a strategic communication vision to support the business strategy, developing communication policies, website development, promotion of educational and public programs and promotion of exhibitions.  In addition, the Communications Manager is responsible for brand management and providing fundraising support.

This role is a contract role until June 30 2019.

Skills and experience

The Dax Centre Communications Manager will have:

  • Three or more years' experience in a communications manager role
  • Demonstrated experience in development of promotional materials for an arts, mental health or educational organization will be highly valued
  • Demonstrated experience in developing policies, guidelines and procedures for communications
  • Development and execution of an integrated multi-channel communications, strategy, including website and social media strategies
  • Ability to work well in a small team, ability to seek input and feedback from the team on an ongoing basis while also able to work independently
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent planning, project management and organisational skills, able to work autonomously and manage a range of tasks with conflicting priorities
