About the role
CEDA is seeking an enthusiastic and versatile communications officer to work in the expanding external affairs team based in the national office.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to CEDA's efforts to raise and influence the policy issues and ideas that matter most to Australia's economic and social future and gain experience working in and supporting a busy communications and marketing team.
The successful candidate will need to have a keen interest in current affairs and public policy, an eye for detail, an ability to work collaboratively to tight deadlines, and excellent writing and editing skills.
Tasks will include preparing mailing lists for media releases and alerts, cutting up audio from events and creating and uploading content to the CEDA website. You will also prepare monthly communications analytics reports.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Maintain media tracking database and prepare media contact lists as required and monthly media coverage report;
- Provide administration for various projects related to marketing and publications, for example publication distribution and logistics;
- Assist with preparation of press releases, company newsletter and announcements;
- Update website content, including text, audio, video, image and publication files;
- Provide post-event management, including editing and uploading event audio and presentations for the CEDA website;
- Provide copy editing support for other online and print materials including marketing collateral, publications and media releases;
- Other duties as required.
Skills and experience
CEDA is looking for a person who has:
- Completed a tertiary qualification or equivalent in a relevant field;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite an advantage;
- Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
- One to two years' experience.
Personal attributes:
- A self-starter, able to work autonomously but also collaboratively in a team environment;
- Ability to work under time constraints and to manage effectively multiple priorities/tasks;
- Ability to work systematically and with outstanding attention to detail; and
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of management.
