Communications Officers play a vital role, co-ordinating Police responses to incidents. They also handle a variety of calls and provide timely information to operational Police to enable appropriate actions to be taken.

 

It’s busy, challenging and varied!

 

If you enjoy multitasking and thrive on recalling facts and figures…….this is your ideal role.


 Daily Activities include:

  • Generating and updating electronic incident messages.
  • Receive and broadcast Police radio messages for routine and emergency incidents.
  • Answer and process a variety of calls.
  • Co-ordinating and monitoring Police response to incidents and maintaining radio support, ensuring sufficient resources are despatched.
  • Utilise the latest systems to despatch and broadcast messages.
  • Monitor the activities of all mobile units, allocated resource and incidents coming within the operator’s span of control.

 

What you need to succeed:

  • High level keyboard skills and experience in Windows applications;
  • Excellent reading, comprehension and short-term memory; and
  • Able to work rotational shifts 24/7.

Successful applicants will take part in a twelve week full-time course, which will be run at Sydney Radio Operations Centre, Surry Hills commencing 24 September 2018. 

 

Prior to commencement, successful candidates must complete a National Police Check (criminal history) and will also be required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
