Job Description

The role is to work across two teams, the Insights Team which is the core of our business and Cultural Insights Team. Cultural Insights is a core practice area within our business which we leverage across most projects to bring context to our thinking. (Qual brings feel, quant brings rigour, Cultural Insight brings context). It is useful within the sorts of problems we solve as it brings a future lens to our thinking that speaking to consumers alone cannot. Cultural insight plays a key role in reframing opportunity for brands and businesses by shining a spotlight on the ‘relevance gap’ – ie where culture is moving towards vs what a brand / business is doing today.

Some experience in Cultural Insights is desirable, but not a prerequisite, but you must have a natural curiosity about culture and how bands inform culture. In addition you will have capable practitioner skills in qualitative insight which can be applied against a brand planning mindset, with circa 5 to 8 years qualitative experience.

Specifics for this role:

  • Delivering bespoke qual / cultural insight centric projects from beginning to end, coordinating the resources of the team as needed, liaising with the client throughout the process and working with directors / ADs to deliver the strategic recommendations and implications.
  • To be the insights lead (and to start with Cultural Insight support) on projects worked, with responsibility for running projects on a day to day basis (in partnership with relevant AD or Director).
  • Have expertise in banking / financial service or other service categories (utility, telco etc) area as you will be working as a key support to the Director in delivering to a key client that is one of the Big Four banks.
  • Have a passion for understanding the broader cultural context in which client’s problems sit and bring this perspective to the outputs provided to client deliverables.
  • Have a bendy brain which you enjoy applying to different problems, clients and approaches. This means thinking in terms of outcomes, beyond the detail of process when applying your core skills against project work.
  • Building and managing relationships at insight / marketing manager level. Being part of project teams delivering projects for domestic. regional and global client centers.
  • Being asuperb organiser who clients look to as a safe pair of hands
  • Being able to work on multiple projects at any one time (2-3) across different categories
  • Jointly deliver proposals for new business with directors / AD, with particular focus on building our qualitative client base. Must be able to write with clarity and conviction around approaches and the outcomes they will deliver.

Qualifications

What we look for from any member of our team…

  • Have a fascination for culture. A compulsive deep diver who is intellectually curious and engaged with culture and how it is changing
  • A bendy brain – the ability to look at the world differently and make connections that others cannot
  • Have an organised mind – The ability to take disparate input and organise it into structure
  • Being a highly skilled, naturally talented qualitative insight practitioner who is able to confidently share methodology recommendations with clients and other team members.  The desire to learn about and apply fresh methodologies is a must.
  • Having an irrepressible instinct and strong ability to make the complex simple, and tell powerful stories that make sense of the world in ways that will move clients to share and act.  You have to connect the dots that will solve the big questions for our clients, and get a real thrill from building and delivering strategic research recommendations.
  • Using multiple insight sources to build and present powerful stories that can build confidence around action for clients
  • Being a brilliant communicator who can write with finesse and who can explain thinking and logic confidently, clearly and simply.
  • Have a fascination for people. A compulsive deep diver who is intellectually curious and who loves going beyond the obvious.
  • Thriving in an ever-changing environment, being adaptable and agile.  Understands and uses process but is not wedded to it. Happy to course correct and play with rules at pace, with a hunger to drive for powerful outcomes. In all areas, bringing a fresh perspective and doesn’t take ‘that’s the way we’ve always done things’ as a reason not to act.
  • Love working as part of an enthusiastic and energetic team, knowing how to enroll and inspire others and keen to learn new skills from other disciplines to drive thinking further.
  • Having a desire and willingness to push outside of their comfort zone.
  • Really understanding and feeling the client’s issues and needs, an ability to understand their business and walk in their shoes, working arm in arm with our clients.
