Your new company
An exciting new opportunity has recently become available for an experienced Media Advisor within a busy NSW State Government Department. This role is a 6 month contract.
Your new role
In this role you will be supporting the media and content team in the delivery of media services in relation to the planning, design, construction and operations phases of the NSW State Department’s infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide media relations services, both proactive and reactive, across a number of projects. simultaneously, ensuring activities are well coordinated, documented and delivered in a timely manner.
• Provide issues management services, research and strategic advice to the Media and Content Manager and Communications Director.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across the directorate, at all levels, as well as with community, asset management and ministerial staff to support the successful delivery of communications.
• Assist and mentor the media officer in the production of proactive media stories and progressing these through the approval process with senior staff and ministerial staff.
• Drafting media releases and other promotional material, including social media.
• Work as part of a small team to maintain the operation of the Communications Directorate.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline. • Demonstrable experience as a journalist or Media Advisor in a government department or minister’s office with lots of reactive media experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing a high volume workload within tight deadlines across several stakeholder groups.
• Knowledge of and commitment to Aboriginal education policies.
