As the Mechanical Trade Planner you will be responsible generating and maintaining work packs associated with all maintenance projects in accordance with the Submarine Planning Department Processes and Procedures as well as ensuring repeatability, consistency and efficiency across SIMS and ASC Corporate MRP System (Control).

One of the key requirements of this position is to demonstrate your effectiveness to provide safe, trade based work instruction in order for maintenance to be conducted efficiently in accordance with submarine certification and quality requirements.

Other responsibilities of this position will be;

  • Ensure all work packs are produced in accordance with our ‘safely on time’ philosophy by ensuring they are generated in a safe, efficient and accurate manner.
  • Review and interrogate allocated task information and corporate systems in order to achieve a safe, efficient and accurate work scope.
  • You will be required to provide technical interpretation of defects, customer “taskings” and engineering recommendations and generation of detailed work scope (and work packs) to allow maintenance tasks to be conducted in a safe and efficient manner that supports ASC’s quality and certification integrity requirements.
  • Interrogation of corporate Planning systems to ensure adequate information is reviewed and included in work packs for efficient and certifiable maintenance to be understood and complied with by Maintenance Trade Personnel.
  • The position also requires a high level of interaction, communication and customer support to Maintenance Team personnel to ensure work scopes are understood and accurate for the required task.

Integral to this role will be your excellent communication skills showcasing your ability to interact with people at all levels of the company.

Essential qualifications, technical competencies and experience required

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline or Mechanical Fitter trade qualification.
  • A solid understanding in Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Proven experience and ability in shipbuilding, submarine or a heavy engineering environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in your trade/engineering qualification with exposure to work scope, detail generation, scheduling and estimating.
  • Must possess the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and associated work instructions.

 

Desirable competencies and experiences

  • Previous Planning experience at a trade or project level.
  • RAN SIMS and ASC Control knowledge and experience.
