Our client is a well-established and highly successful Australian manufacturer of precision and packing solutions to a broad range of industries including Telecommunications, Energy, Medical, Mining and Defence. Due to continued growth they now seek to hire an experienced CNC Machinist, who is capable of working to the highest standards.

 

Responsibilities:

Working as part of a small, skilled team in the manufacturing area, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating high-speed CNC machines to perform tasks such as punching, drilling, routing, milling and folding  (in Aluminium, plastics, copper, brass and steel). You will work to the specification of drawings and job requirements to ensure all items are produced to schedule and to the quality level required.

 Tasks will include:

  • Preparing and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as routing, milling, NC punching, folding and digital printing
  • Preparing programmes for parts in accordance with relevant mechanical specifications and machine input requirements
  • Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings and instructions sheets
  • Preparing and loading raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Preparing a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Setting machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
  • Supervising the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspecting and measuring finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Checking and maintaining machinery daily to ensure functionality
  • Working in an organised professional manner in an  ISO9001:2015 endorsed manufacturing facility

 

Key requirements:

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience (min 3 years’) in programming, setting and operating CNC machines, including flat-bed routers, turret punches and folding machines.You will have experience working in close tolerance (.02mm to .05mm), high quality environments and experience working in an ISO9001 certified company would be highly desirable.At minimum you will have completed a Certificate lll in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent. Proven experience in programming CAD/CAM applications is essential (Solid works, Radan, HSMxpress would be advantageous) and you will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.

  • Comfortable working in small batch production environment.
  • The ability to work in fast-paced team environment with changing priorities and demands
  • A flexible, can do attitude and readiness to work in other areas of production if required
  • A passion to learn and continually improve
  • Willingness to work overtime or later shifts if required
