Due to increased production levels, Austal now has an opportunity in our Piping and Mechanical department for experienced Pipe Fitters to join us on a 3 month max term contract in Henderson.
Reporting to the Piping and Mechanical Supervisor the Pipe Fitters main responsibilities will be to fabricate, assemble and install piping systems, pipe supports and related equipment for hydraulic, fuel, pneumatic, cooling, fire/sprinkler and domestic systems working with both metallic and plastic pipes.
The successful candidate will need:
- Trade qualifications in Pipe Fitting or Plumbing preferably in the ship building industry (not LNG piping)
- Two years working as a Pipe Fitter on new build vessels would be considered advantageous
- Marine and Service experience desirable
- The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra and geometry and their application to pipe fitting
- You will have full Australian working rights and reliable transport
- Your communication skills are well-developed, as are your problem solving skills and flexibility.
