THE COMPANY        
Our client is a leading medical device manufacturer. The company is based in North Sydney. Due to the business expansion, they are now seeking to employ a full time Quality Control Inspector/CMM Programmer/Operator. This opportunity is located in Sydney's Northshore.    


The Position:
As part of the machining team, the CMM programmer/operator is required to measuring the physical geometrical characteristics of the metal machine produced parts. A coordinate measuring machine (CMM) measures the surface area of three-dimensional objects. These machines are often used during the inspection phase in the manufacturing process. A CMM programmer interprets object blueprints and programs the CMM to take accurate measurements. The position requires the person to Work independently and in concert with others to provide CMM programs and perform processes necessary to efficiently and effectively meet customer demand.
  

Duties & Responsibilities
- Extensive CMM programming experience using PC-DMIS.
- Operate the CMM machinery and check the dimensional accuracy of different products, dyes, components etc.
- Performed in-process and first article dimensional inspection for manufactured and supplier parts. 
- Documented CMM inspection programs in PC-DMIS to optimize inspection procedures and standardize inspection methods. 
- Maintained documents of all inspections and pilot run measurements using PC-DMIS reports. 
- Standardized program storage, reported storage, all file names and CMM features. 
- Interfaced with various team members on production quality issues. 
- Prepared backup CMM accessories probes, extensions and all phases of CMM hardware. 
- Maintained work area, cleaned and lubricated machines.
- Compares recorded measurements to blueprint dimensions and tolerances and notifies specified persons of discrepancies.
- Performs gauge R&R (repeatability and reproducibility).
- Enters gages into the gage system.
- Using the following or similar tools: CMM, Digital Micrometer, Digital Vernier Caliper, Hole Tester, Surface Roughness Tester, Profile Projector
- Testing allowable variation in form and possible size of individual features, and to define the allowable variation between features
- Other duties may be assigned.



The Ideal Candidate

• The person will also have at least 5 to 10 years' experience in a similar CMM
• Programming/operation role.
• Accurately use precision metrology equipment
• Proficient with measuring instruments
• Knowledge about plane and vector
• Experience in generate part program using PC- DMIS or Calypso or Measure Mind 3D Multisensor
• Sound knowledge in the GD&T
• Read and interpret the Engineering drawings
• Experience in internal calibration of measuring instruments
• Knowledge in ISO standard
• Strong Experience of Performing Tasks as a CMM Programmer cum Operator.
• Excellent Knowledge of Three dimensional geometry and engineering.
• Capability of reading and interpreting the industry designs, manufacturing plans product blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) etc.
• Raise the NC for Rejection Parts. 
• Followed ISO 9001 procedures.
• Assisted in quality documentation (PPAP, FEMA, Control Plan & GR&R studies).
• Ability to Multi Task and work in fast paced environments.
• Excellent data management and report making skills.


Qualifications Required
• The ability to read blue prints, mylars and customer specifications.
• Solid experience with measurement methods.
• Manufacturing experience particularly with computer assisted production.
• Work record, which demonstrates a commitment to quality and efficiency.  This includes a good attendance record.
• Knowledge of SPC and geometric dimension and tolerances.
• Good communication skills.
• Familiarity with ISO 9002 and AS 9100, particularly ISO 13485 is strongly preferred.
• Machining experience is a plus.
• Mathematical skills: Math skills including trigonometry and solid geometry are required.
• Reasoning ability: Based upon shop and inspection experience, be able to draw logical conclusions to support decision making in this job.
