About the role

Based at our Balcatta site in Perth, the Maintenance Fitter plays a key role in managing ad hoc projects as well as both the reactive and preventative maintenance of all equipment on site. The Maintenance Fitter is required to co-ordinate with internal customers across multiple departments as well as third party contractors to schedule planned maintenance and attend to urgent daily repairs within a fast paced environment with competing demands. The Maintenance Fitter is required to work independently to organise and prioritize projects, handle complex tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Duties

  • Attend to and effectively repair breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Implement the preventative maintenance program
  • Overhaul and rebuild equipment as necessary
  • Maintain critical environmental controls (i.e. temperature, room pressures, air flow, room changes etc).
  • Assist with facility shutdowns and undertake annual shutdown maintenance.
  • High risk work including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Provide mentorship, technical support and on the job training to Maintenance Operators and Line Setup Operators.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and enter information into a computerised maintenance management system.

Skills & Experience

  • Trade qualification in mechanical fitting. A restricted electrical license in WA will be viewed favorably.
  • Experience in milling, turning and welding.
  • High level of aptitude in mechanical, pneumatic and automation fields.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in pharmaceutical or related industry where GMP is required such as healthcare, food and beverage, or chemical processing.
  • Engineering and or maintenance background. The ideal candidate will have experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Effective computer skills including Microsoft Office, Project, Excel, Word and Auto CAD.
  • Excellent work ethic with ability to work under pressure in a production environment.
  • Strong communication and record keeping skills
  • Fault finding and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with staff and contractors at all levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to OH&S.
