About the role

Installation

 Installation of new air-conditioning systems and equipment including compressors, condensing units and evaporators together with the connecting of ductwork, electrical and pipe work

 Determine materials/supplies that are needed for the job and arrange ordering

 Read and interpret plans and designs of air-conditioning systems including installation plans

 Adjust and calibrate thermostatic controls

 General electric work in line with level of training

 Responsible for ensuring that all work meets safety and industry standards as directed

 Test after installation/repair to ensure system is in good working order

Maintenance

 Service and maintain air-conditioning and refrigeration systems as above

 Diagnose electrical and mechanical defect and malfunctions

 Adjust and calibrate thermostatic controls as required

 Perform maintenance activities such as cleaning filters on installed air conditioning systems

Quality standards

 Comply with all environment standards and ensure that any toxic release to the environment is avoided

 Ensure all work complies with industry standards

Customer Service

 Interview customers to ascertain causes of problems with a/c

 Provide information to customer about how installation/repairs will take place and what types of inconvenience (if any) will occur

 Provide customers with information on operating air conditioning systems to derive complete benefit from them

 Prepare service bills, take payments and issue receipts

Administration

 Enter data and information into the company data base as directed

 Keep regular and accurate stats related to time allocations for jobs

 Complete JSAs and other induction and safety requirements as directed

Skills and experience

 Ability to communicate technical information to clients in a clear and precise manner
 Ability to problem solve and use initiative to find creative solutions to complex issues
 Ability to read and interpret building regulations and codes implemented by city, state and federal government agencies pertaining to installation of air-conditioning systems
 Ability to work in small spaces e.g. roofs, crawl ways and attics
 Ability to work in adverse weather conditions e.g. heat
 Willingness to work in environments which are exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and high voltage equipment
 Ability to lift heavy objects in a safe manner
 Ability to present a professional image and uphold the reputation of the company
 Ability to follow Safe Work Method Statements
 Willingness to participate in Tool Box meetings to address health and other safety matters
