Since 2013, Comdain has partnered with United Energy / Multinet Gas, a distributer of natural gas to over 687,000 customers throughout Melbourne's inner and outer east, the Yarra Ranges and South Gippsland, in both maintenance and capital works. Comdain is pleased to have been awarded both an extension and expansion of this contract. For this reason we'll be growing our team over the next few months.

About the position:
On the back of sustained growth, an opportunity for new Labourer/Pipe Layers have arised. They will carry out all duties associated with the construction and maintenance of gas mains and services with a major focus on safety, quality, standards and customer satisfaction.

The principal objectives of this position are to undertake work in the following areas:

• Operate equipment and tools associated with main laying and service laying activities;
• Ensuring work is completed to Comdain's requirements as well as legislative requirements;
• Using good management practices and continuous improvement initiatives to meet or better KPI's;
• Assist with tasks directed by the Crew Leader.

What we are looking for:
This position is ideally suited to someone with experience within the water and / or gas industries. Labouring experience within other construction industries will be considered. Additionally, you will have; 

• General education to at least Year 11 or equivalent standard in Maths and English;
• Previous knowledge and / or experience in either manual labouring, use of hand tools or mechanical equipment;
• Victorian medium rigid drivers' license;
• Construction industry induction card (white card);
• Operator’s license for Excavator, Front End Loader or Backhoe and proven competency in operating and maintaining an Excavator, Front/End loader or backhoe (preferred) would be an advantage;
• Previous experience in customer contact would be an advantage.
