About the Company

Our client is one of the best Sheet Metal product manufacturers in Melbourne and they have a requirement for a 1st Year apprentice that would enjoy working in this industry. As a Sheet Metal apprentice you will be required to learn a variety of skills like mig/tig welding, angle grinding, drilling, assembly work, building toolboxes, painting, bending folding etc.

Based in Boronia and working full time 38 hours per week and attend tafe one day per week this is a perfect chance to start your career with a well-known company.

 

About the Role

You will be working Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week whilst attending Tafe one day a week.

As a Sheet Metal Apprentice you will be required to complete a Certificate 3 in Engineering Fabrication over 4 years and attend Tafe.

 

Your roles and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Apply safe work practices in the automotive manufacturing environment
  • Prepare and operate tools, equipment and machinery
  • Monitor and maintain automotive equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and determine requirements
  • Perform basic welding, thermal cutting, heating and gouging
  • Conduct mechanical cutting
  • Perform manual metal and gas arc welding
  • Undertake root cause analysis
  • Use hand tools
  • Use power tools/hand held operation
  • Use workshop machines for basic operations
  • Undertake manual handling

 

About You

The person we're looking for is enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable. Some experience in sheet metal such as folding, press work, cutting bending would be advantageous, but most of all we are looking for candidates that have the passion to complete a 4 year apprenticeship in a hands on trade.

Must have car and Licence and completed a Pre App.
