Based at our mine site at Port Gregory Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the HD Fitter will be required to attend breakdowns and first response problem solving in the field along with scheduled maintenance of our mine site fleet.

The successful applicant will carry out the following tasks:

Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.
Assists with vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps workshop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/Qualifications

A strong attitude towards health and safety.
Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (HD Diesel Mechanic or equivalent) or equivalent Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
Sound Verbal and written communication skills
Relevant Industry or general experience
Good interpersonal skills
The ability to work in a team and unsupervised as required.

Please note this is not a FIFO role and only applicants from the local Midwest area will be considered. (Geraldton, Northampton, Kalbarri and surrounds). The Port Gregory mine site is approximately 1hr 15mins drive from Geraldton. Applicants will be responsible to get themselves to and from site however a bus is available from Northampton if required. Salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
