Main Purpose

The purpose of the role is to provide support to the production teams at the North Rocks production site

Key Responsibilities

The shift Fitter is responsible for safely repairing equipment in a timely manner to deliver the customers requirements at the required quality and cost standards.

Shift Fitter will also play a key role in continuous improvement and maintenance activities to increase and maintain the performance of the production equipment.

SAFETY

  • Follow all OH&S procedures.
  • Use the appropriate PPE
  • Ensure that all safety incidents are reported
  • Comply with Safety rules, Tool Box talks and Risk assessments and take appropriate actions to improve safety.

 QUALITY

  • Repair and set up machines to achieve the product quality as detailed by the production line standards
  • Collect all defective materials to aid in breakdown analysis, eg broken components/breakdown reports.
  • Take immediate action to rectify issues that have a negative impact on quality.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Liase with the Production & Engineering to understand the shift  priorities for equipment repair.
  • Ensure that equipment is set up to run at the optimum settings
  • Maximise the use of any down time to carry out improvement and PM activities
  • Where appropriate, assist in line changeovers – ensuring that there is vertical start up.

COST

  • Maintain the machines within the Repairs and Maintenance budget
  • Use the correct procedures for withdrawing equipment spare parts through the SAP system

MAINTENANCE & 5S

  • When the opportunities arise, perform PM activities using PM standards in accordance with the Maintenance calendar
  • Isolate equipment using  the Permit to Work system
  • Control and maintain their work place in accordance with 5S rules, eg clean/tidy/organised
  • Take part in AM and 5S audits.

Critical success Factors for the Job

  • Trade Qualification
  • Communication
  • Trade Certificate in Fitting & Machining with, experience in high speed manufacturing within the FMCG sector
