The Role and Your ResponsibilitiesThe School is seeking to appoint three (3) Lecturers in Environmental Chemistry within the discipline of Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science.

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research activities of the School within the relevant discipline. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Postgraduate programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.  The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.  The Lecturer will work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer will have a strong research track record and will be responsible for course coordination.

In the 2015 ERA (Excellence in Research Assessment) exercise, RMIT was rated 5 – ‘Well Above World Standard’ in Environmental Science and Management. The successful applicant is encouraged to become involved in the key School research centre: EnSuRe (Environmental Sustainability & Remediation); and also with one or more of RMIT University’s Enabling Capability Platforms, as appropriate to the applicant’s expertise/interest.

Skills & Experience RequiredYou will have demonstrated expertise in Environmental Chemistry. You will also have the ability to teach into core courses of the RMIT Environmental Science programs (including soil chemistry or atmospheric chemistry or natural processes) for undergraduate and/or post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials using innovative approaches to course delivery and student-centered learning that successfully exploits new technologies. Furthermore, your capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning will be essential to your success in this role.
