Contract: 0.6 FTE

Central Film School (CFS) is looking for an experienced Programme Leader to join our small team, on a fractional contract basis.

About Us:

CFS is a young institution making its way through a crowded Higher Education sector. We have established ourselves as an atelier school; a boutique community of committed filmmakers creating innovative and challenging narratives through collaboration and enterprise.

We are committed to delivering high-end teaching and learning in film and digital production, with a consistently increasing number of applicants and New Entrant graduates year on year. Recruitment numbers for the 2017/2018 Academic Year are around 30 BA Practical Filmmaking and 12 BA Screenwriting students, with an intake of 26 and 11 respectively for 2016/2017.

It is our aim to continue to grow our presence and reputation in education and the screen industries. The work we have completed over the last few years has given us a solid grounding as an education provider.

Person Specification:

Professional practice experience in the screen industries complemented with extensive experience in HE academic management environments. Knowledge of current Higher Education policies, and a proven track record in Bachelor of Arts academic frameworks. The position requires both practical filmmaking and screenwriting academic leadership.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills complemented by first-rate administration and project management skills.

Candidates must hold a Masters level qualification in practice and/or theory related subjects, with a minimum of five years teaching experience at film schools or universities.

Purpose of the Role:

Academic leadership and management of the BA courses, including the maintenance and enhancement of standards and responsibility for the design, development and co-ordination of our portfolio of modules.

The day-to-day management of the courses including all areas of learning, teaching, student assessment and resource planning.

Observing and implementing the policies and procedures of Central Film School and our validating partner, The University of Gloucestershire.

Ensure that the delivery of the BA modules are organised and resourced appropriately to the academic award, and to the learning styles and developmental stages of our students.
