The overarching aim of the Acceptability project is to expand our understanding of the principle of the child´s best interests and the normative platform for the values underpinning this principle across societies. This project employs an innovative methodological approach, with multilevel and cross- country studies. The goals are to:

  • Explore how different legal systems evaluate and justify decisions based on the child’s best interest
  • Investigate interconnections between public opinion and court decisions
  • Enhance our understanding of cross-country differences in regard to children’s rights, status and interest

The PhD positions is part of the Acceptability project: a large four-year research project, funded by the Norwegian Research Council at the FRIHUMSAM program and the University of Bergen, Norway.
