Detail information about job Biomedical Technician. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Wellcome Trust-Medical Research Council Cambridge Stem Cell Institute is an international centre of excellence for stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Scientists in the Institute collaborate to advance our knowledge of various stem cell types and to perform pioneering work in translational research areas, providing the foundation for new medical treatments. The Institute currently comprises 29 research groups based across 6 sites in Cambridge. In 2018 all researchers will move to a new building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

We are looking for Biomedical Technicians to join Dr Sanjay Sinha's group, based within the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute. This part-time post is funded by a British Heart Foundation programme grant. The Sinha Lab (http://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/research/pis/sinha) uses induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to model aortic disease such as Marfan syndrome to identify molecular mechanisms and new treatments (Granata et al. Nature Genetics 2017;49:97-109).

The ideal candidate will have an HNC, or equivalent, in a biological subject, together with experience in areas of relevance to the research group.  Organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, are also essential.

The duties include performing experimental procedures, stock maintenance, planning and record keeping. Previous relevant experience is highly desirable, especially in relation to the cardiovascular system.

Informal enquiries directed to Dr Sanjay Sinha ([email protected]) are encouraged.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
