The successful candidate will be based at the Department of Pathology, in Cambridge (http://www.path.cam.ac.uk), and will be provided with laboratory space in the Division of Cellular and Molecular Pathology on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (Addenbrooke's hospital site). It is expected that he/she will obtain research grants to build an independent research group which will be initiated with an attractive start-up package provided by the CRUK Cambridge Centre.

Applicants are expected to have a PhD and not more than ten years' postdoctoral research experience that is relevant to their proposed research programme within the Department of Pathology. They will have an excellent track-record of research and have published in leading journals. Their research interests will lie within/be related to the field of paediatric cancers. Applicants in the areas of early (non-invasive) cancer detection, development of models of paediatric cancers and/or novel therapeutic strategies are particularly encouraged.

The main responsibilities of this role are outlined in the Further Information document and include developing an independent research programme, assisting in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate student projects and delivery of seminars relating to their research area.

As part of the selection process, short-listed candidates will be invited to visit the Department to give a seminar on their work and meet prospective colleagues throughout the Department of Pathology and the CRUK Cambridge Centre. It is intended to arrange these visits for mid-October 2017.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment. The requirement for any higher level pre-employment checks is dependent on the role.
