Detail information about job Senior Research Associate in Hydrology, Agriculture and Human Health. Terms and conditions vacancy
The Environmental Change Institute is seeking to appoint a hydrological researcher to join a major programme of research on the interactions between the environment and human health, called LEAP Livestock, Environment and People , which is funded as part of the Wellcome Trust’s Our Planet Our Health programme. This post is focussed upon freshwater resource modelling and the interactions between water resources, agriculture food and health. The research will take an integrated approach that incorporates climate, hydrology, water allocation, infrastructure, agriculture and human health. The project will explore the effects that hydrological variability has on agricultural production and, consequently, malnutrition; the influence that human diets and in particularly animal-sourced foods have on water security, and; the impacts of livestock farming on water quality.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced hydrological and/or integrated assessment modeller with a strong track record of publication in the scientific literature and a genuine motivation to address water challenges of global significance. You must hold a Doctorate or have equivalent research experience in a relevant subject. You will be expected to take initiative in design and implementation of research and publication of results.
This is a fixed-term post until 31 March 2021.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 13 September 2017, and interviews will be held on Wednesday 27 September 2017.
