This Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) funded post is available from 01 December 2017 for a duration of 3 years. The College wishes to recruit an experienced behavioural neuroscientist to the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate or Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support the work of Dr Mick Craig.

The successful applicant will investigate whether pharmacogenetic manipulation of thalamic activity can improve performance in behavioural tests of memory in animal models of Alzheimer's disease.
The researcher will use stereotaxic injection of viral vectors into the CNS, and multiple tests of behaviour. The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in behavioural neuroscience to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will ideally have some experience in optogenetic and/or pharmacogenetic methods and the use of numerical analysis software such as Igor Pro or Matlab.
