The UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE) is located within The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER). UCL IEDE pursues a deeper understanding of the part played by choices relating to buildings and the urban environment in tackling some of the greatest challenges facing mankind, in areas such as health, human well-being, productivity, energy use and climate change. We are part of The Bartlett: UCL's global faculty of the built environment. The Property Care Association (PCA) is the trade association representing specialists who can be trusted to resolve problems affecting buildings. The Property Care Association works to promote high standards of professionalism and expertise in the industry sectors it represents. This is done by developing and delivering professional training courses, and awarding industry recognized qualifications to those who study for and successfully pass our rigorous examinations. The KTP between UCL IEDE and PCA is seeking to appoint a KTP Associate to: ‘develop novel moisture assessment protocols for improved prevention, management and remediation of moisture related problems in buildings. In addition, a user-friendly diagnostic tool will be developed for streamlining data collection and analysis in support of the implementation of the developed protocols”.
The appointment is until the 28 February 2019 in the first instance, further funding to support the post may be available.
A key requirement is a first degree in Architecture, Engineering or Physics, ideally with appropriate experience of statistical data analysis and programming. Candidates with experience on Modelling using tools such as WUFI, Delphin and/or IES/TAS/DesignBuilder are especially encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is an analytical person, communicative, able to self-motivate and achieve agreed objectives. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,809 - £31,432 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
