Post-doctoral Research Associate for Leverhulme Project: People and Place (People and place: the making of the Kingdom of Northumbria AD300-800)

This is a fixed term, part time post (18.75 hours) therefore the salary will be pro rata to the salary shown. The planned end date for this role is 31 August 2018.

The postholder under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, will be one of 3 Research Associates based in the Department of Archaeology at Durham University working as a team to engage in key aspects of the project. The project has completed 2-years of research, and the post holder will be joining an established team. The post will therefore overlap with the outgoing postholder, to facilitate a successful handover. This post will involve the maintenance of the geo-spatial database working with PDRA1 and PDRA2 to input digital data. On occasion the post will involve travel for the purpose of identifying and acquiring datasets. Tasks will include collating and incorporating core and complementary datasets, digitising site plans and undertaking spatial and statistical analysis of all data. The post-holder will be required to work with the team to analyse and produce results and bring those results to publication. The post-holder will also take responsibility for the maintenance of the website and blog, support the creation of the on-line digital resource, work with PDRA2 to integrate scientific data within the GIS and will contribute to the creation and publication of all journal papers and the project monograph. The post-holder will support the PI in the production of annual reports to relevant funding bodies.
