The Department of Applied Health Research (DAHR) undertakes world-leading multi-disciplinary research to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of health care and public health interventions, with particular expertise in reducing socioeconomic inequalities and evaluating health service re-organisation.
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) North Thames aims to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities through world leading applied health research. Professor Rosalind Raine is the Head of DAHR and the Director of NIHR CLAHRC North Thames Working as a member of NIHR CLAHRC North Thames Research Partnership Team and in collaboration with our NHS/ public health and academic partners, the post holder will design and conduct the applied statistical components of health care/public health research. The post holder will lead / contribute to all research components including study design, literature review, governance approvals, preparation of research instruments, data collection, analyses, interpretation and write up of quantitative data.
This post is available immediately until 30th September 2019 in the first instance.
The post holder must have a PhD in applied statistics/ health services research/public health research/epidemiology or equivalent experience.
The post holder should have experience of analysis of large routine health/ health care/public health datasets and surveys, writing first/last author publications in internationally refereed journals, leading or making significant contributions to successful applications for prestigious external research funding, teaching and academic supervision at postgraduate level and presenting research to academic and non-academic audiences.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD. If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,809 - £31,432 per annum inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
