Postdoctoral research on social evolution and the evolution of ageing in bumble bees
An experienced postdoctoral researcher is sought to work on a three-year, NERC-funded project in a team supervised by Professors Andrew Bourke and Tracey Chapman. The aim of the project is to investigate costs of reproduction and the fecundity-longevity trade-off in the bumble bee Bombus terrestris and the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster. The wider goal is to determine the effects of social evolution on the evolution of ageing.
- You will have a minimum of a PhD in a relevant area, research experience of working with bumble bees or similar model systems, and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.
This full-time post is available from 1 October 2017, for a fixed term up to 36 months or until 30 September 2020.
