Job Purpose

To make an important contribution to the project: Why does the Past Matter? Emotional Attachments to the Historic Urban Environment funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. This project aims to examine the range of factors that contribute to the development of emotional attachments between people and the historic urban environment and the extent to which these factors are considered within the designation and management of heritage in the UK.

Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge in heritage studies and/or urban studies, urban history, place attachment, or related fields. Particular subject expertise could include, but is not limited to, emotional/experiential values of heritage, urban history of emotions, and/or attachment to historic places. The post-holder will also be required to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

Standard Terms & Conditions

Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum.

This post is funded for 6 months in the first instance.

Part time - 14 hours per week.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
