The School of Psychology at University of Plymouth is seeking to appoint two new permanent academic members of staff. We are particularly looking to make appointments in the areas of Clinical Psychology, Health and Wellbeing, Social Psychology or Individual Differences, but we welcome applications from strong candidates in any area of Psychology.  

We are looking to appoint people enthusiastic about Psychology, who can provide excellent research-informed teaching for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and who have the capacity to enhance our research profile.

Research at Plymouth

University of Plymouth School of Psychology offers excellent research facilities to support your career, with a large suite of recently-refurbished dedicated research facilities covering a broad range of methodologies, supported by a dedicated technical team. The school houses a number of active research groups, and you will be expected to contribute to the success of one of these groups, or to help establish a new group. Research in the School of Psychology forms part of the part of the University’s multidisciplinary Cognition Research Institute (https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/institutes/cognition), which helps link our research to areas of strength across the entire University.

The University’s commitment to supporting research in Psychology was demonstrated this year with a multi-million pound investment to establish a University Brain Research and Imaging Centre, expected to launch in 2018.

Teaching at Plymouth

University of Plymouth School of Psychology at offers many opportunities to develop your teaching career. The School is one of the largest and most successful in the UK, comprising 50 FTE academic staff and over a thousand students at undergraduate, masters and doctoral level. The school delivers BPS accredited single and combined honours BSc degrees in Psychology, an integrated undergraduate Masters programme in Advanced Psychology, taught postgraduate Masters in Psychology, and Psychological Research Methods, research MPhil and PhDs, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. You should be qualified to PhD level or equivalent in Psychology or a related discipline, and be able to demonstrate the capacity to deliver teaching and research excellence.
